I know, I know. It's been a while. Sorry, but between classes, projects, and moving, I am falling behind on my updates. Not too long ago I blogged about using Amazon's KDP Select program for driving interest. If you publish through Amazon they allow you every three months to choose from using kindle countdown or free book promotion. This time around I used the free promotion for my Eight Horribly Disturbing Tales book that I released last year just for kicks and to help me figure out how to use the systems before the "real" books start rolling in.
As of today, here is my book ranking (#68) in the free kindle area:
The reason I bring this up is that for all you self-publishing authors out there, you should consider partaking for at least the first year or so -especially until you gain more followers (fans). The higher up you go for ranking, the more likely you are to be noticed.
Here's a list of hints that I wish I would have known before publishing this first piece:
*Hint 1: If you include your website into the ebook it will also drive more traffic to you.
*Hint 2: Thank your readers for reading your work and ask them to follow you for updates on future releases. Author central is fairly new and most don't know that they won't be bothered, except when you publish something new (and maybe, but I'm not sure when you post a blog -I don't think so though).
* Hint 3: Instead of using up your five free days all in a row, use them sporadically throughout the three months.
* Hint 4: Don't forget to use this free service each and every three month interval. It only takes a minute of your time to gain free exposure.
*Hint 5: Do a regular blog (weekly -unlike me). Give your readers a reason to keep up with you.
*Hint 6: YOUR BOOK COVER COUNTS! Yes, My next cover is better. What a lame mistake this one was. Make that first impression count! IT REALLY DOES MATTER!
Speaking of covers....Here's a cover I've been working on for one of my novels: The End Begins ~Coming soon. Sneak Peak Here
