Merry Christmas to all: Great Book Gift Ideas For your Teens ~~or ~~ Grab My Kindle Countdown Deal12/17/2016
It's Christmas time. Looking to get your teens an alternative to technology this year? Me Too! I admit, mine spend way too much time surfing the web and playing games. Uggg. (yes even writers have this problem) It seems like it's a never ending battle, yes?
Teens have been loving my book of Short Stories. And now you can get it as a kindle deal for the week: Hurry: only for a few days $ .99 cents (Or if your looking for a great stocking stuffer, it is available in print as well). Dystopian is a current trend favorite for many teens right now, so if you want more ideas, head over to my home page and watch the video this week for more great book ideas! Speaking of Video Trailers: Here's a trailer for one of the short stories found in Eight Horribly Disturbing Tales: I Talk To Strangers (Click on the book below to purchase the book). ~ Merry Christmas ~ Well, well. It finally happened: I have writer’s block –though, not in the traditional manner of the sense. I haven’t run out of things to talk about on paper, but I have hit a brick wall in the interest that I have in my current project.
~Down the drain, out the window –so to speak. I’m practically done with the current book and I know that I should finish it and get it published, but the problem is that politics have gotten a hold of me. My current book is a fiction piece that does have a slight political slant to it: government conspiracy mixed in with supernatural elements. The thing is pretty good too. So what do writers do when they get sick and tired, or lose interest in their project? I have no idea what others do, but I’ll tell you what I am going to do: finish the thing in bits as I work on the new project idea. This way I won’t waste all that time I spent on the current piece –or the possible income I could be making from each. Many of you have been wondering how my marketing has been coming along. I have a list that I am working on that breaks down what is working and what was a flop. I have not forgotten about you. In fact, I simply want to try a few more things so I can give a complete picture. I will give you a hint though: Don’t spend money on advertising: click baiting no longer works. Find your followers through organic means. ***And please, for the love of God, stop twittering your books 20 times a day. It does not work and actually hurts you. Be real and pin your current book to your twitter and participate in what your followers are talking about. I will talk more about this later. But, if you want to see what works for internet marketing, then put yourself in the buyer’s shoes. Do you like to be bombarded with crap? Or do you hear about great books and items by word of mouth and purchase it that way? I like to browse the internet by putting in key words in Google or different stores. I like niche blogs and niche websites that leave honest reviews on products or books –don’t you? I like book recommendations from sites that are well established. Facebook never gets one purchase from me, twitter never gets one either. Like I said, I will be talking in full about what works and what doesn’t, but for now: please stop bombarding your customers. You only look desperate and untrustworthy: gimmicky, for lack of a better word. Have questions now? Can’t wait? Contact me, I am real, I will try to help with ideas that work. Otherwise wait a few weeks and I will post that list of do’s and don’ts (I might even do a short video!) Check out the video of the week on my home page and write on, writers. Why I voted for Trump: He has been in the public eye for over 40 years, and in that time he was never accused of being a racist, a rapist, or anything else: In fact in those years he was known for pushing towards equality. I remember, I am old enough to. This election was a culture war and a anti-establishment movement. Do you know who Milo is? How about Mark Dice? You have to admit that there needs to be a discussion about these points he's bringing up: People are not paying attention and are easily led, without even a thought, about possible consequences. I blame the America indoctrination education system and the media propaganda machine for this (see video below this one) It is sad times when someone like Mark Dice can simply use the tactic of a calm voice to gain the "sheep" to sign anything. How did this happen? What is going on, you ask. Well you need to look no further that the very system that rules the thinking in the country: government education: Now lets look at the Media. Then there shall be no misunderstanding why so many people are leaving the mainstream media to seek out alternative ways to get their information: In short they are waking up and now see main stream media for what it is: I hope you watched all of these videos with an open mind. Yes I voted for Trump. Not because I believe he is perfect, but because he represented the opposite of where this country is heading. Maybe sometime this week I will fill in a few more holes. But, if not, I encourage you to stray away from the main stream media for a while and do a little of your own leg work. Read some difference of opinion once in a while from people who stand "outside the box." Oh, and it may help to read both the federalist papers and the anti federalist papers (and our other founding documents). I love this country. Let me say that again differently, I love the people of this country enough to stand out as a sore thumb. Yes I voted for Trump, but I bet you didn't know why I voted for him. And I am willing to bet that you misunderstood why others did too. Be honest, now, is it possible you listened to CNN for too many hours instead of what others did? The media is the one that spread the fear. Yell at them. Get angry. Please.
I listened to each candidate's speech, almost everyone of them. I researched their accomplishments, failures, their world views and their mentors. I listened to the left. I listened to the right. I listened to those moderates. And if that is considered a misinformed decision, then there is no help for any of us. Thanks to all who entered my giveaway on Goodreads. The results have come in: Congratulations to those who won: The books are going in the mail today and will arrive as soon as the post office gets it there! A special thanks to those who entered but did not win: That's okay. I am working on a novel, and when it is finished I will be sure to hold another giveaway. I plan to give away way more copies of the new book. If you like supernatural conspiracy thrillers: you will enjoy this new book! I promise to post a sample chapter on here when I get close to finishing the book, so follow me on Goodreads (or Amazon) so you'll be sure to get the sneak peak as soon as I post it!
***A special note to fellow writers who are following me: I am going to post an update in about a month talking about how all my efforts are going for marketing via online. It will be a no hold back honest review of what worked and what did not! Being that Eight Horribly Disturbing Tales is just a preview of my writing styles, It will be interesting to be sure! It will be especially fin to note the difference from this first newbie book to the full out novel that I will be releasing in early spring. Have a great day, all. It looks like my key words (and other online marketing efforts) might be starting to pay off. I think that by narrowing down the competition (narrow keyword searches) I was able to do this. If you look up my book right now it is number three under free kindle homeschool. I don't have a lot of competition in this area right now, so this helped to. Today my free download promotion ends and I let you know soon if being number three actually helps me make sales or not. I will also watch it daily and see how long it takes for the book to drop down in the Amazon search numbers. This is really exciting for me (even if I don't make much sale from this, I know I am at least heading in the right direction for sales. In a day or two I will let you know how my other marketing ideas have been fairing thus far. I especially want to talk about twitter. ****And if you want to check out the book for free get it now! (always free for Kindle unlimited customer -at least for now!) Some authors have concentrated publishing straight on kindle and have not taken the time to publish a print version of the same title in Create space. Please consider doing this. It is a pretty easy process. And you never know when you have lost customers just because they prefer to read the "old school way"
1. Save your word document like this: Hit your File save as-> lookdown to the bottom of the page area and notice this button: SAVE AS TYPE. that is a wonderful button that you should always know about. Hit that button and save as PDF. Save the file on your desk top. 2. Go into create space and sign up. Follow the steps and make sure that your cover is sensational! (I made this mistake and won't ever do this again). 3. Download your pdf formatted document( the one you saved on your desk top) that you plan to publish when create space prompts you to. 4. Then, when it is time to review, go ahead and let them send you your free proof. Please do not publish it because you are excited without taking this step. 5. When it arrives in the mail. READ EACH AND EVERY WORD. Notice your formatting, does it look okay? Do the words of each page end how you want them too? If not, then go back to your word document (the one before you converted it to pdf) and make the changes and proceed back to number one. Also take your proof around and show off the cover? is anyone excited? ask for an honest opinion from those outside your family and friends! If it all looks good then you can okay the submission in create space and you are good to go. 6. When you go through the process of the rest of create space it will ask you if you want this book to be available on kindle (why not -more potential sources of income, right). You will also be asked about the availability you want available. This is the step that you want to make sure you get right. ***See why I tell you to publish via create space before kindle? Because you can set it to do both anyway right from create space:Nice right? 7. Make sure you hit the all markets and make the book available to libraries and all other spots it offers. Later you will find that your book is also available in Barnes and Nobles.com as well as other places. (if you take this extra step). 8. You will also have an option to sign up for kindle unlimited for your title. I would do this too! (but you have to decide for yourself). 9. you also have the option of having your eBook be match priced to be included for your customers who buy the print version. 10. Finally, when you are all set. your kindle version should show up in a few weeks attached to your print version. If not, contact support and give them the isbn and the isan numbers and kindly ask them to link it for you. I had to do this. Its easy and they take care of it right away! Bottom line: When you go to publish your ebook. consider publishing through create space first and then using the tools in create space to send it directly to a kindle version. I tried both ways. Going through create space definitely streamlined the process for me. Have a kick'in day and get to work, writer! Today I want to talk about how an author can take steps to have a better chance at their book discovered in Amazon.
KeyWords: When you publish your book on Create Space (or anywhere really), make sure that you take the time to use carefully chosen Keywords. You don't want to use commonly searched words that only compete with all of the other 1,000,000 books on your topic. The key is to find a niche keyword that is relevant to your book. But, don't narrow it down so far that only a few people would think to enter the words into the search engine. Here's a great link to a site that gives you some good tips and helps you narrow down your choices: http://app.scientificseller.com/#/ By the way, it is really helpful to read Amazon's hints on what kind of keywords to use for your project, as well as help you understand what you may not use for search words. My last advice today: Do a goggle search when you have time and take the time to learn more about how keywords can make or break your chances of potential online sales. Many authors have a great book (much, much better than mine) and yet don't take the time to build their presence online or learn to work with SEO's, Keywords, build websites, and other potentially income driven technology. To all those who are bucking the traditional publishing system: The above is so important that I can't stress it enough. Make your book good, pay extra attention to the cover (something I wish I had done), and learn to use the World Wide Web to your advantage. I have now gotten my book up the list to 200 in some of the Amazon searches. This is a good start, but it needs to be better. But, right now I am working on finishing my novel up (sneak peak chapters to be shared her soon: so stop back or join me on We Wrote for updates, or add the RSS Feed!). This week I am going to go horse back riding with the family. So, I will catch up with you in about a week! Good Morning everyone! Today I am busy working on my next fiction book: If you like the supernatural and are convinced that government conspiracies exist, my next book will be right up your alley!
I will be sure to blog a few excerpts here when I get closer to the end (almost done!), but right now I want to talk to you about one strange way to make side income: Writing slogans. Yes, it exists. Some of the contests pay 200-500 dollars for a writer's good play on a few words. You really don't even have to be a good writer, maybe just someone who is always making up funny or catchy phrases. Why would anyone pay such high prices for a couple of words, you ask? Think about it: What's the catch phrase for Nike: Just Do It! Everyone remembers this, right? It's so simple, really, yet companies can't seem to come up with something on their own. I don't know, maybe it's because they are left brainers and us writers are right brainers? Whatever the reason, it is what it is. So go ahead Google: Paid for slogans and you might find a perfect fit for a side income. One place that I know is legit (at least it used to be a year ago) is Slogan Slingers. The one thing I don't like about Slogan Slingers is that one has to have a Paypal account because that, my friends, is how they disburse your payment if a company loves your slogan. Many of you wouldn't mind this because you have paypal already. If you don't mind this part, they are legit. I still get prompts in my email every week or so offering me to try out for the next slogan contest (you compete with other writers slogans that have been submitted -but don't worry if your a genius, you'll make money). If you want to check them out: http://www.sloganslingers.com/about-us.php To sign up and get started visit this page I conveniently marked off their site for you: http://www.sloganslingers.com/writerRegister.php
It sure is beautiful out today. I plan enjoying it, so I just wanted to drop a quick not and let all of you know that the goodreads contest for three print copies of my books started today:
