Hi everyone! I hope your summer is going strong. I'm a little behind on my deadline for TATTLE. I am working on it. Its going to be a tremendous read filled with lots of twists and turns and gut wrenching trials. I hope to release a teaser trailer in the next month or two.
In the mean time, I've been trying to sneak in some reading too. Since I'm so far behind, I've been sticking to reading short stories and such lately (sort of my own punishment for not delivering TATTLE on time... *HACK*). The short story collection took less than a couple of hours to devour. Short sweet and to the point. Just the way I like it. If you haven't checked out my review page yet, give it a whirl. Pretty soon I'll be giving away another short story for a day or two on Amazon. If you have any ideas of which one you wish to read, let me know! Say, thanks so much for hanging in there with me. You're the best ~LuAnne
FREE TODAY: AVOIDING SHADOWS
This is a perfect pick if you only have time for a cup of coffee and a quick ten minute read And, If you like AVOIDING SHADOWS there are 7 more Quick Reads to choose from.
UPDATE: Everyone's been asking where TATTLE is.
It is coming! I apologize for the long wait! We have moved in the middle of this book and lots happened. The good news is I am getting back on track and Tattle will be completed just as soon as I can get it out there. In the mean time, I've been working on a few covers. Which one do you vote for?
Do it. Just do. Use all the free resources you can. And then do this. Don't spend more than you can afford, but don't be weak about it either. There are many blogs about using Amazon Ads. I'm not going to go into the underlying reasoning behind the hows of it. This short post is just to tell you that YES they do really make a difference. Do stop and think about why you are doing it. And then consider it from a reader's point of view (we'll talk more about that very soon).
1) more visibility 2) when you make sales it's a booster to write more 3) um. you want to sell more books, right? 4) It's a better investment to me then hoping to win the lottery ticket or spending money at a restaurant. And, very soon (when I 'm not in the middle of moving) I am going to lay down the plan I am going with that you might want to consider. I'm also going to talk about ways to come up with the money for it if you don't have it. I'm not going to lie to you, you might lose money. (But you already know that if you've been following me). I really have a lot going on right now and it may take a while for me to get back to you. In the mean time, please feel free to poke around my site and grab some goodies. There's stuff here for all writing stages. Really. Here's an idea to consider while you wait for me to tell you more goodies. Have you considered that your book deserves a special/official site? I mean really, you worked so hard on it. Why would you not take the time to showcase it. So what if you have an author site....everyone does, but not everyone is doing this! Take a gander at what I did: The End Begins Official Site You're welcome! By the way, I'm giving away another short story this week: January 4th thru 8th Grab a copy and enjoy: Our Very Own Little Apartment My daily rant.....Recently I happened upon the Kindle Scout Program. Have you heard of it? Me neither. No worries.... there is so much information overload online today, that it's a wonder any of us can find the front of our nose.
Anyway, I heard about it and thought I'd hop in and check it out. https://kindlescout.amazon.com/about Although the program sounds good, what's up with the lower royalty payments? HUH? Why would I even consider something that pays less than the KDP program. Something sounds a little fishy to me. Can anyone tell me why it would be worth losing out to higher royalty payments? 1500 so what. AMS ads...so what Really? Oh, and only certain genres can apply. Gee, that leaves out me. Well, maybe for some stuff I've written. Thought about it for five seconds. Nah. I'm not sold. I won't ever be sold... Unless of course I get a movie deal out of it (we can all dream). (five year deal? yeah like what really does that afford you? limited marketing, I'm sure, since amazon will own the rights). Bottom line... If you are a good writer and know it: Stop leveraging lower prices for your labor. I mean really, stop it. If you're a great writer then people will buy your stuff. They'll become a fan. A true fan will be salivating as he or she waits anxiously for your next book. At some point folks, you have to realize that you are worthe it. You are. Just think how horrified your fans would be to find out you weren't getting hardly what they were paying for. Icky. Just icky. I'd rather open my own site and let my fans donate what they thought my stuff was worthe. Just because you self publish does not mean it's unworthy. Actually, it means you care enough to do it right. So, what do I have to say about this? Well, its an easy task. Don't settle. Fans: Don't settle either. Writers trust your worthe. Readers enjoy our hard work. It's always been that way. Middle men just need to go! But thanks to Amazon for providing a big platform for us newbies...without you, all would be lost. i love to share royalties with Amazon. They deserve it. But, why don't we just make the Kindle Scout program a little more worthy? HUH? Fellow writers and readers: Love to you all and have a great night! ~Lu By the way I don't even mind giving out my stuff for free. At least I know it's worth the read and worth the leads. Tomorrow you can get a copy of Inhumanity for free. Enjoy. Because I enjoy writing not only for myself, but for you too! May your holidays be filled with great joy and may you be surrounded with all those you love! We are certainly looking forward to spending lots of time around our loved ones this year! Good times. The Dowling House by A Drew
My rating: 5 of 5 stars I just finished reading, The Dowling House. Wow! What a ride that Was! Phew... A very chilling and thought provoking read indeed! It's not often I give a five star rating. But it deserves it. I was impressed at how well this book is edited and thoughtfully written. It's a fast-paced, shocking thrill of a ride that takes you into hidden realms of fear. An unseen world where you just might discover the secrets that exist there, may be better off left to rot. Bottom line, I really enjoyed this book -I especially loved Phil (I won’t spoil it for you here though). The only thing I regret: I wish it were a longer ride. This book would make a great gift this year for those who love horror books. It’s shorter than a novel, yet long enough to get to know the characters. I recommend it for those who like a good haunt in the theme and content of: The Stand, Watchers, Pet Cemetery, The Exorcism of Emily Rose , and the like. Spooky. Smart. Insightful. Riveting. ~What a treat! View all my reviews |
